A Blast From the Past

I went to the Devon Business Show a while back. It struck me that the set-up was like a town market, but different in that there were no customers. A market where all the stall holders were there to sell, but with no one to sell to other than the other stall holders – who were not there to buy anything… only to sell.  There’s something wrong with that format.  I made a 7 minute soundscape with snippets of the day from parking the car and registering through to the sales pitches and the return. I had a some feedback: “I found this somewhat disturbing.”  I find the whole format of this type of event unnerving; you can sense the high levels of anxiety from many people who simply do not enjoy this experience and would rather not be there at all.
